Debate: Evan Fales vs. Mike Licona (Part 1 of 4)

On June 24, 2014, atheist philosopher Evan Fales (University of Iowa) and Mike Licona (Houston Baptist University) debated the question “Did Jesus rise from the dead?” This debate is in 4-parts. The debate took place at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. There were approximately 20 audience members, all of whom had applied and had been selected. Almost all them had PhD’s and teaching positions at major universities in the U.S. and Canada

• Part 1 is a 30-minute lecture by Licona on whether historians can investigate miracle claims followed by 30-minutes of audience Q&A.
• Part 2 is a 30-minute lecture by Licona presenting a historical case for Jesus’ resurrection with a response to Fales followed by 30-minutes of audience Q&A.
• Part 3 is a 60-minute lecture by Fales arguing for the difficulty of historians investigating miracle claims and that reports of Jesus’ resurrection are political myth.
• Part 4 is a 15-minute response by Licona followed by 45 minutes of audience Q&A and dialogue between Fales and Licona.
